"A Not Using Dream" By: G.B.
I was dressed in white.
My clothes were loose and flowing,
Nothing tight.
Can’t remember exactly where I was going
I looked around
Saw some of my old homies waving
Solid ground
Beneath my feet, a new path I was paving
I saw a man
Sitting at a large table
Dark tan
An artist who appeared to be able
I smiled and said Hi
Looking at me, he winked twice
Wandering eye
Asking me, “What’s your price?”
I looked at him with a head held high
“There’s nothing here for sale,”
No lie
This time I wasn’t going to fail
“What are you making I asked”;
Looking him in the face
Un-masked
Still running in the race
We talked for awhile
Artist to artist not trick to friend
Another smile
So much for my eyes to see
That was enough for today
As I turned myself around
No pay
My feet still on solid ground
Nothing tight
Solid ground
Dark tan
Right now I don’t need a man
Wandering eye
No lie
Un-masked
I want this new life to last
Another smile
No pay
I’m walking a brand new path today!
