What Recovery Means to Me

By: C.S.

Healing, pulling up the hurt the pain, facing anger, the ghosts of my old name and letting them go, finally be dissolved in to the air instead of being buried in my core.

Growing, embracing kindness, praying in the face of hostility… compassion. Speaking up when the answer is right in front of me, and staying quiet when I have no clue. Also, forgiving myself when I speak up having no clue and stay quiet when the answer is right in front of me.

Expanding to the highest elevation. My higher power blesses me with taking the boundaries away from my visions that stayed only dreams in my mind for years. Now, they are right here! Spreading my wings to fly, and encourage those whose wings have been clipped.

Let’s shine together! Understanding, now without unity and lifting each other up womanhood will become extinct. I need my sisters! I need the love, honesty, and strength of another woman that understand my struggles of the heart.

I pray that we will become the pioneers of the cycle of healing, growing, expanding, and shining and will one day outweigh the abusive cycles of yesterday.
